Welcome
The Invicta Model Flyers are a BMFA and BARCS Registered Model Aero Club based in mid Kent, UK.
The focus of the Invicta Model Flyers is to bring together people, in the Kent area, who have an interest in Radio Controlled Silent Flight.
The primary interest of the club is in the areas of Thermal and Slope Soaring.
The Invicta Model Flyers Club was formed in the late 1980’s to provide a club in the mid Kent area with a focus on Silent Flight, thermal and slope gliders plus electric powered radio control models.
The founder members of the club are Robin Sleight, Rod Potts, Peter Clark and Alex Green.
The Club has gained an enviable reputation in the field of R/C soaring. National level trophies have been won by members and the club organised “Interglide” in 1996 (150 entrants), Interglide 97 to co-incide with the inaugural F3J world championships plus many more recent events. The club supports and provides entrants for many national (and international) thermal soaring events.
The Club also enjoys a good Southerly facing slope with a descent landing area which allows relaxed flying of aircraft up to 1/4 scale gliders.
Technology improvements over recent years in electric powered models has enabled many of our members to fly (both competitively and for fun) such models. While the club’s facilities do not offer suitable fields for I/C power models, the club does actively participate in the “7.5cc power glider” events staged by the Kent Interclub Group.
For members hell bent on flying I/C power, we could negotiate reciprocal privileges exist with other clubs so giving members access to a suitable field.
